Water Safety

On the 12th of August PC 22935 LAMB attended locations around the River Severn in Shrewsbury to raise awareness with members of the public about the dangers of entering the river. PC Lamb also spoke with a local business who utilises the river, to gain their support to push the message about enjoying the river and surround areas safely and responsibly. 

There have been multiple incidents recently involving children and adults entering the river and getting into difficulty. As tempting as it may be to go in to the river in the hot weather, it remains an extremely unpredictable action, with cold water shock, hidden currents, wiers and river infrastructure not visible which could and do cost lives. We would like to remind everyone the importance of staying safe around open water.
